Our History

Jav Agencies was founded in Port Elizabeth in August 1977 by Des and Joan White, with a clear focus on supplying quality commercial refrigeration equipment to the local market. What began as a regional operation serving Port Elizabeth and surrounding areas quickly expanded within its first year to include East London and the broader Border region.

Driven by strong partnerships and consistent growth, Jav Agencies continued to expand its footprint. By 2001, the business had extended into the Garden Route and Western Cape, with the support and approval of key suppliers, including Scotsman Ice Machines and Staycold. This marked a significant milestone, establishing Jav as a recognised distributor across multiple regions.

As the business grew, so did its leadership. In September 2006, Clyde White was appointed to lead the Cape Town branch, operating from Millennium Park in Parow. After three successful years, he became a member of Jav Agencies CC in 2009, representing the next generation of the business.

Today, Jav Agencies services a network of over 450 dealers across South Africa. While Scotsman Ice Machines and Staycold remain core brands within our portfolio, our offering has expanded significantly to include a wide range of commercial and industrial refrigeration solutions.

In addition, Jav Agencies is the proud owner of the Frost brand — a growing range of water filtration, dispensing, and cooling systems designed to deliver reliable, high-quality hydration solutions. Frost reflects our commitment to innovation and allows us to offer proprietary products tailored to the needs of our market.
